SPEECH OF THE PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR

TO THE GUEST OF HONOUR MR.FRANCO ROSSO.

Ladies and gentlemen, Good morning!

First may I take this opportunity to thank all of you for listening to my call of invitation to our today’s meeting. This meeting was arranged urgently because today we have a special guest who wants to take full responsibility of taking care of our orphan children.

His name is Mr.Franco Rosso. Our guest of honour director sir, with your kind permission may I give you a brief history of this orphan project. This project was founded in the year 2009, immediately after the general elections, chaos erupted in 2007/2008 election aftermath. The violence was triggered by political differences among politicians who were struggling for power, this led to the introduction of IDPs,children were orphaned either due to disease or other post election violence and other group retaliations due to peace which was at stake during those days.

From the foregoing my desire to support these poor orphans children started and up to now I am still struggling to support and prepare for them to come and live a better life regardless of their parental and financial situation. Our guest of honour director sir, when these poor children were brought to my attention by the poor guardians, I grouped them together here at my own home and started helping them in matters of food, shelter and school as well as medical. Later, I discovered that the poor guardians brought them to me because they trusted me that I would take good care of them since I was working with the hotels. so, I welcomed all the orphans and all sorts of poor children who were brought to me.Some of these children lost one of their parent while others were complete orphans but this can’t stop them from getting education. We need to support them because some of these may become important leaders in the society and hence mark their market in the whole world.

Our guest of honour director sir, I struggled that way sharing what I had with the poor children including my own salary, maize from my shamba etc. One day I met another friend of Italian origin at the Malindi White Elephant beach his name was BERTOLA PIERO CARLO whom I was introduced to him by a beach boy and I discussed with him the problems I was passing through with the poor children and he agreed to support the poor children. Mr. Bertola Piero Carlo was a hardworking and a real volunteered sponsor who sometimes managed to convince his friends also to support the project and as well they did and eventually built some classrooms here at Kavunyalalo house of hope project, so through his strong support the project managed to kick off.

Our guest of honour director sir, also our efforts as the community of this place we managed to get a farm which borders Sabaki river and another friend of Bertola Piero carlo by the name MIRETTI GIACOMO sponsored the project with a water pump machine generator whereby we used to plant all sorts of vegetables, maize, etc for the poor children of the project.

Our guest of honour director sir, as I have said earlier that this project started in the year 2009 beginning with KG 1 (KINDERGATEN 1) hence in this year 2019 the first lot of children is now in Form 2 in the secondary school education system of kenya although most of those children are suffering for loss of full sponsorship and I’m not capable of helping them to get fees or food any more as I normally stay home jobless due to low tourist turn up at the hotel where I work.

Our guest of honour director sir, another reason why these poor orphan children are suffering is because Mr.Bertola piero carlo who has been projects main sponsor has been seriously sick and was admitted there in Italy. His healthy deteriorated to the extent that he was taken to a surgeon and he underwent surgery operation of the prostate as he was suffering prostate cancer. Since then up to now nothing has been done to the orphan children by the other sponsors who have been close friends of Bertola piero carlo. This led to all ever rising problems of the orphan children not attending school due to lack of school fees, food, poor medication, bad shelter and etc. Other sponsors who were dedicated whole heartedly in provision of food to these orphans were Enrica Casteli and Gianluca Trimboli from Italy.

We proudly express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to these sponsors for their generous support to our orphans.

Our guest of honour director sir, the community of Kavunyalalo as well as myself being the project co-ordinator of this project, humble requests you to agree and fully support these poor children. Moreover , we will humble respect and follow your own advise towards this request. Our guest of honour director sir, the project comprises of eleven(11) orphan children and five staff members who have been working as volunteers or otherwise the staffs have been surviving through few grants from visitors to the project as their stipends for their generous heart and desire to volunteer.

We wish you and your family a joyous and enjoyable 2019 and prosperity in all your work and plans of supporting our poor children of this marginalized region which also is affected by floods when River Sabaki bursts its banks. That’s all and thank you very much for visiting us and being our guest today.

Yours sincerely,

James Charo Mweri.

My name is James Charo Mweri and I wish to introduce myself to you as here under. I have been a long time employee at Tropical Village Hotel in Malindi town and I worked in the garden and swimming pool department. When I was working at the hotel I used to live with orphans at my home whom I met them in different villages e.g. Kavunyalalo, Madunguni, M’mangani, Mbogolo, Malanga and some were brought to me by guardians. That is because of my good will and I know the sufferings living without parents or single parents at a younger age. That is why I had the passion to help especially orphans and the less privileged children in the community.

I used to feed and educate them, but when my contract went off, I decided to tell Mr, Franco Rosso the owner of the hotel where I used to work, who then decided to go with me at my home in Kavunyalalo and he met the poor children and he also told Mr. Alexander Zissmatos the general manager at Tropical Village to renew my contract. Ten (10) of these children were taken to boarding primary school at Kibarani in Kilifi town and one at Barani secondary school in Malindi town, who is now a second year student at Mount Kenya University pursuing a degree in Journalism and Mass communication.

Mr. Franco Rosso also decided to adopt a poor and physically disabled woman by giving her money for food stipend monthly. The following is a chronological representation of the activities which Mr. Franco Rosso used to perform in support of the poor family and orphaned families at Malindi town in Kenya.

The daily school activities at Kibarani boarding primary, Mount Kenya University and food supply were cut off since the death of Mr. Franco Rosso as truly he was their only helper in life.

Tabu Mwango Kalu this woman is a single mother of five children but she is now living with disability after involving in a road traffic accident and she got her leg broken. She has been receiving monthly stipend in terms of money from Mr. Franco Rosso so as to buy food and other basic needs. I have no doubt that if it were not for his death, he would have continued in helping them to the final of their dream and aspirations

It’s a call of unity and mercy to help these poor children who are innocent and unable to escape the different social problems so as to make their future generation self-reliable and a success in life. I humble request support to every well-wisher, sponsors, donors, aid agencies foundations, friends, faith based organisation, charity based organization, family friends etc. to come together and feel sympathy due to the sufferings of these children are facing through now.

Please kindly give your funds if possible monthly so as to enable these children to be able to continue with their studies. It would be in my best interest as the co-ordinator of this project, if we can devote strongly in provision of food, education and proper medication to these children, as this is their only last and final hope in making their life better.
